Haagen Dazs Limoncello Gelato review

O...M...G!!!  Haagen Dazs' has a new product line, Gelato!!!
Wait...Gelato means ice cream in Italian...so it's just ice cream...Hmmm...

Doesn't matter, they all look awesome.  I really love the new design.  Semi-matte black backgrounds really bring out the other colors, and makes the product really catchy.
So, when I first found out about the new gelatos, I was very excited.  And I know that I have to try the Limoncello flavor.  Limoncello is a lemon flavored liquorIt is quite delicious by itself, and becoming more popular amongst foodies.
The gelato texture is very rich and creamy, everything expected of Haagen Dazs.  Heck, do you see phrases like "low-fat" or "low-calories"?  Of course not.  The lemon flavor is very distinct, and the slight tartness of the lemon juice helped cut down the sweetness and richness slightly.  That is always dangerous, because then I can't stop eating.  There is vodka in the ingredient list, but really, I can't really taste any alcohol.  But that does not hurt the overall score on the gelato.

I give it a 9 out of 10.

  1. 10! I buy 6-8 at a time when they're on sale, 3when they're not... there is no other lemon cream I see there is so baby but there is no other lemon custard style my screen in any brand in any store strangely enough the lucky near me and Concord and Martinez California don't carry this one flavor and carry all the others. I just went to all the Safeway's in the concord/Clayton area about 7 stores and half dint have any AND had tKen away the spot(I assume this means they're discontinuing), the others I took the last 2,3&4. I hope you do not need the company is discontinuing but why is this happening? the only criticism I have is that if this ice cream is allowed to warm up a bit and refreeze the flavor of it changes dramatically and is much much less enticing and I don't mean melted to liquid state either I mean if it sits out on a pallet for a little while before they bother to put in the freezer.
